The Essence
Bringer-of-joy, Initiator-of-Peace, Torch-bearer-of-divine-will, Vervain has been considered sacred throughout history due to it’s medicinal qualities as well as it’s spiritual abilities, being known by many epithets such as Holy Herb, herb of grace and Iron Herb. It’s Welsh name, ferfaen means ‘’to drive away’’ attesting to it’s ability to drive out and purify harmful influences and energies. In doing so it both calms the mind and alleviates stress, allowing for divine inspiration to flow through.
Associated with Venus yet holding all four elements in balance, Verbena officinalis is an aid to many magical and alchemical processes. The Druids used Vervain for enhancing potions and incantations. The spirit of Vervain is known as the Magician’s Herb as it activates the creative forces and weaves the appropriate parts of the web into being. Fostering the qualities of all good magicians namely patience, perseverance and focus, Vervain holds all we need to call in our most potent magic and activate it.
The initiation space will be held by plant spirit healer, Emma Fitchett as we fast and embody a Vervain elixir, taking us into the inner realm of this powerful plant. We will also welcome visionary artist, Jackie Lewis to guide us through Vedic art sessions allowing Vervain to bring through us our unique medicine. These are not art lessons but ancient techniques used to take us out of the linear mind and into innocence, releasing fears, projections and limitations to create authentic connection to the spirit of Vervain.
We will end this magical weekend with a two course meal created by Michelin trained conscious plant-based chef, Sarmado Sibley. As a nutritionist, Sarmado will be offering an organic, partially foraged yet gourmet meal to support and nourish the ending of a fast.
